Top-Level Domain Zone File Data

Top-level domain (TLD) zone files contain mapping data for active second-level domain names and the Internet Protocol addresses of the name servers for those domain names. Verisign maintains TLD zone files for .com, .net, and .name, and for several associated fully localized international domain names (IDNs).

The TLD zone files do not contain domain names in the following states: serverHold, clientHold, pendingDelete, and redemptionPeriod. In addition, they do not contain domain names that are not associated with name servers.

Request Access

To request access to the zone files for the .com, .net, and .name TLDs and other Verisign-operated generic TLDs, use ICANN’s Centralized Zone Data Service (CZDS).

Domain Name Base

The domain name base includes the active zone plus the number of domain names that are registered, but not configured, for use in the respective TLD zone file. It also includes the number of domain names that are in a client or serverHold status.

The domain name base and the active zone change frequently and are updated at least once daily. The update times may vary each day. Today’s domain name base is not necessarily indicative of results that may be expected for the current financial quarter or year.

The daily domain name base provided on this page may not be comparable to domain name counts we disclose elsewhere. The domain name base may also reflect compensated or uncompensated judicial or administrative actions to add to or remove from the active zone an immaterial number of domain names.
