Verisign Cares

The Verisign Cares Mission

The mission of the Verisign Cares program is to make a positive and lasting impact by working with communities where we live and work, promoting online safety for the internet community we serve, and making a difference through meaningful action that promotes positive change and strengthens society.

Working with Communities

We work to support those in need in the communities where we live and work, including providing support to local food banks, non-governmental organizations that offer mental health services, and other groups that help those in need.

Making a Difference

Verisign seeks to contribute to meaningful and ongoing improvement by supporting organizations dedicated to addressing societal challenges and strengthening society. Through Verisign Cares, Verisign has supported and continues to support a number of organizations involved in this work.

Employee Volunteerism and Giving

Verisign supports employees’ public service and community giving efforts.

Matching Funds

We match each employee’s charitable giving to qualified charities and non-profits, up to $3,000 per year. To date, Verisign employees have contributed to over 700 organizations.

Donation Drives

Verisign and its employees regularly organize drives for populations who are adversely impacted by crisis, whether environmental, economic or, most recently, pandemic-related. Some of our efforts include school supply, food, winter coats and holiday gift drives.

Volunteerism

The Verisign Volunteer Program encourages employees to give their time in support of local community organizations. Verisign employees can dedicate one paid workday per quarter to volunteer and serve their communities.

Internet Stewardship

Verisign donates key technical innovation to make the internet safer.

Supporting the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s Vital Mission

Verisign technologists developed a software tool that makes it easier to find the source of Domain Name System Abuse, so abusive content and material (like phishing, malware, and child sexual abuse material) can be more quickly addressed.

The software automatically scours publicly available databases and graphs all possible points of contact for an abusive domain, while also prioritizing for users the most effective likely take down path, looking at registry, registrar, hosting, Content Delivery Network, and other points of contact. In 2023, Verisign donated this tool to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as part of a larger, long-term partnership with the organization.
