Reselling SSL Certificates
Once an ISP has become a reseller partner, they can
resell SSL Certificates to their customers following these simple steps.
Reseller provides proof that the company or organization
being enrolled has the legal right to conduct business under the name.
Domain name registration must be verified against
the organization name provided during enrollment. VeriSign can only
issue a Secure Server ID to the organization that has the legal right
to use the domain name.
Follow the instructions that came with the ISPs server
software to generate a key pair and a Certificate Signing Request (CSR).
Key pair generation is the creation of the server's private and public
keys.
After creating your CSR, open the file (or e-mail)
using a text editor such as Notepad, copy the CSR, and paste it into
VeriSign's online enrollment form.
The ISP and the partner should be listed as the technical
and billing contact. The corporate contact information should be that
of your customer.
VeriSign support will contact both the ISP and your
customer if we need any additional information to complete the order.
When the Digital ID is approved, VeriSign will send
it to the Technical Contact by e-mail. Make a backup copy and store
it on a floppy disk, noting the date received. Store the floppy in a
secure place. Install the Secure Site Seal on behalf of your customer
or encourage them to do so.
