Content Management Platform of 2007

platform for helping multi-media users manage their rich media content

world, today announced that the VeriSign® Intelligent Content Delivery
Network has been awarded Streaming Media’s 2007 Readers’ Choice Award
for Top Content Management Platform. A total of 92 companies submitted
almost 120 products and services or were nominated by customers or others
in the industry. More than 3,000 readers of Streaming Media magazine
and StreamingMedia.com logged their votes.

The VeriSign Intelligent Content Delivery Network
(CDN) is a managed service combining the power of advanced streaming
and P2P technology that enables content providers to securely publish,
protect, deliver, and track digital video content to consumers.
Originally launched in December 2006, the VeriSign Intelligent CDN gives
end users on-demand access to high quality video while providing a low
cost delivery model for the content provider, providing:

Content Integrity and Security. The VeriSign Intelligent CDN
includes copyright protection as well as viewer and content controls
which allow only authorized users to receive and view protected content
that may not be transferred or copied. The VeriSign Intelligent CDN’s
integration with leading digital rights management (DRM) solutions such
as Microsoft and Adobe allows only authorized content to be delivered
through the network and only authorized use to be performed on the content
delivered.
Audit and Controls. The VeriSign Intelligent CDN monitors
who has viewed the content and for how long. The Intelligent CDN also
verifies and confirms content delivery and completed downloads. Its
publishing process supports legitimate publishing activities to significantly
reduce the possibility spam.
Delivery. The VeriSign Intelligent CDN offers an efficient
download process that is transparent to the consumer and does not impact
his or her device’s performance. The Intelligent CDN blends bandwidth
usage to lower service provider costs and provides efficient grid delivery/P2P
delivery putting minimal strain on the existing network.
Customization. The VeriSign Intelligent CDN offers full customization
of the UI to fit the context of delivery and the content, and to provide
a feature rich experience for the end user. Industry standard XML and
Web Services API enables easy standards based integration with consumer
media applications and portals.
As part of this year’s Streaming Media West show,
awards will be presented to the winners at the Streaming Media Readers’
Choice Awards Reception Party at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7,
at the Grande Ballroom of the St. Clair Hotel in San Jose. The reception
will be open to full conference attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and
the press, as well as to the winners.
