Veteran Internet Leader Brings Strong Operating Experience and Track-Record
in Growing Infrastructure Businesses
Mountain View, California, April 27, 2001 - VeriSign, Inc.
(NASDAQ: VRSN), the leading provider of Internet trust services, today
announced that it has appointed veteran Internet executive Herb Hribar
as Executive Vice President and General Manager of VeriSign's Global
Registry Services group. Hribar, formerly CEO of Interliant, will join
VeriSign to lead the expansion of service offerings from the company's
globally deployed registration and resolution infrastructure that currently
supports the Internet's Domain Name System (DNS). Hribar will oversee
development, operations and business development of new and existing

for new VeriSign offerings in the future.
"Herb's leadership, vision and extensive Internet
business experience makes him an invaluable addition to our senior management
team," said Stratton Sclavos, president and CEO of VeriSign. "Our
rapid growth demanded that we recruit an aggressive, experienced leader
to oversee the VeriSign Global Registry. Herb brings a significant background
in managing network businesses and intimate Internet knowledge that
we hope to leverage as we build out the Internet's most trusted utility."
"I am delighted to join the strongest Internet
infrastructure company in the world," said Hribar. "Everyday
VeriSign's Global Registry business makes the Internet work and come
alive for businesses and consumers worldwide, and I look forward to
applying my background to help implement the VeriSign mission of enabling
everyone, everywhere to use the Internet with absolute confidence."
Hribar joins VeriSign after an extensive executive
career with some of the world's leading Internet and telecommunications
companies. Immediately before joining VeriSign, Hribar was the CEO and
