Customers to Achieve
Significant Cost Savings from Local Administration and Management of
Digital Certificates
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and CUPERTINO, Calif. -July 16, 2001-
VeriSign Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSN), the leading provider of Internet trust
services, and Oblix Inc., a leading developer of e-business infrastructure
software, today announced a technology partnership to provide enterprises
with a unified solution for the management of digital certificate issuance
within the lifecycle management process of a user's digital identity.
The partnership entails combining Oblix NetPoint's Web single sign-on
and identity management capabilities with VeriSign OnSite's ability
to provide digital certificates for employees, customers or business
partners.
Available now, customers can deploy the integrated
VeriSign and Oblix solution throughout their extended enterprise to
provide secure delivery of e-business information to authorized users.
Trusted delegated administrators can manage passwords and digital certificates
for intranets and extranets from the NetPoint Identity System while
at the same time providing a secure, convenient user experience for
employees, customers, partners, and suppliers.
The combined solution enables companies to minimize
administrative work through automated and centralized user identity
lifecycle management that is tightly integrated with PKI deployment.
"VeriSign's second generation PKI services
are extending the advantages of digital certificates beyond the enterprise.
Obilix NetPoint Identity System integrated with OnSite will enable enterprises
to securely and cost effectively service their partners and customers
online. We are pleased to assist Oblix in jointly enabling these next
generation e-commerce services," says John Weinschenck, vice president
of Enterprise Service Group, VeriSign.
Once activated, Oblix NetPoint 5.0 can manage the
issuance, renewal and revocation of digital certificates delivered by
VeriSign. For the first time, certificate management becomes tied to
multi-step workflow processes within a delegated administration framework.
The certificate management and approval process can be tailored to each
customer's specific business practices.
"We are pleased to extend our partnership with
VeriSign, the world leader in digital certificates. Their approach to
outsourcing the infrastructure for digital certificates has been well
accepted by the market," says Gordon Eubanks, president and chief
executive officer, Oblix. "Our integration with VeriSign OnSite
makes it easy and cost effective for companies to control and update
the granting of digital certificates within the broader identity management
processes."
Under the technology partnership agreement, Oblix
and VeriSign will share revenue generated from digital certificates
managed through Oblix NetPoint.
