Flagstar Bank, a long time user of VeriSign SSL Certificates, recently upgraded to Extended Validation (EV) SSL for its key public-facing websites. Users who saw the EV green address bar, knowing they were on Flagstar's real site, enrolled for an online account over 10% more often than users who were not exposed to the EV green bar.
Distinguishing a real Web site from a fake one has been a huge problem in our industry, and VeriSign EV essentially puts it to bed. I don't know why all banks don't use it.
