VeriSign® i-Nav Plug-in and Components

The components of the i-Nav suite provide functionality for Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) in Windows applications: Internet Explorer, Outlook, Outlook Express and the Windows Address Book. The NAVI updater facilitates the delivery of new services to users as well as updates. Utilizing this mechanism, Surf Assist, distributed to users in Korea, redirects all search and keyword traffic to Yahoo, Korea. The software can be delivered either as an ActiveX component through a network of Akamai caching servers worldwide or as a standalone executable off the specific i-Nav Web site located at: “Web Addresses in Your Own Language” or www.idnnow.com.

A component of the i-Nav suite in an Open Source SDK facilitates integration by application developers interested in enabling IDN capabilities natively to their application. This C library called “Xcode” provides for the encoding/decoding of IDNs to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) RFC’s. For information about this library, go to IDN Registrars and Resellers Implementation Tools.
