Notice Regarding Symantec Acquisition of Verisign's Authentication Businesses

On August 9, 2010, Symantec Corporation completed the acquisition of VeriSign, Inc.'s Authentication division, which includes the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate Services, the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Services, the Verisign® Trust Services and the Verisign® Identity Protection (VIP) Authentication Service.

Symantec is now the owner of these authentication businesses, including any root certificates and intermediate certificates, and is also the issuing entity of certificates issued.

During the ensuing transition period, Symantec plans to update the Certificate Policies and Practices documentation for the Verisign® Trust Network CA services, for all Verisign® private CA services, and for the VIP Authentication Network, as well as other documents published in this Repository in order to accurately reflect Symantec's ownership of the authentication businesses and their corresponding signing certificates.

Until such time that necessary revisions to documentation is complete, all references to VeriSign, Inc. should be understood to refer to Symantec Corporation.
