The VeriSign Managed Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Service manages client authorization and access control for organizations
that require a secure, cost-effective method to increase remote access
to critical online information. The remotely managed VPN provides customers
with encrypted site-to-site and remote access for Internet-based network
computing environments, while alleviating the time, expense and personnel
commitments associated with designing, configuring, maintaining and
monitoring a VPN solution.
The service can be combined with VeriSign's Managed
PKI (MPKI) services, enabling enterprises to benefit from two-factor
authentication that works in concert with remote connectivity provided
by the VPN. The customized VPN services follow industry best practices
to ensure a high level of network access and information availability,
integrity and privacy.
Features and Benefits
The Managed VPN Service includes the following:
- Comprehensive Deployment Services – VeriSign security engineers
and program managers ensure that the VPN devices and tunnels are staged
and comprehensively tested prior to production deployment. Both firewall-resident
and dedicated VPN concentrator configurations are supported.
- Full Life-Cycle Management – VeriSign delivers complete life-cycle
management of the VPN deployment. This includes change management procedures
for evaluating and modifying VPN configurations, software patches and
upgrades, maintenance of Network Address Translation (NAT) pool addressing,
and the ability to add, change, and delete remote access VPN users.
In addition, Health and Performance Monitoring provides 24x7 proactive
monitoring for health and performance of dedicated VPN concentrators.
This allows VeriSign to proactively address developing operational problems
prior to actual service failures.
- Reliable Communication/Management Channel – VeriSign's proprietary
Security Defense ApplianceTM (SDA) provides a secure, fault-tolerant
communication and management channel. This channel enables VeriSign
to remotely monitor its customers' firewalls, install system and software
updates and deploy innovative security technologies. The SDA, located
behind a customer's firewall, provides secure, event store-and-forward
capabilities via an encrypted connection to the Security Operations
Center (SOC). Deployment of the SDA is not required, but highly recommended.
- Guaranteed Responsiveness – VeriSign commences a client-specific
escalation procedure the moment a problem is detected and then works
quickly to identify its source.
- Always-On Client Resource Portal – VeriSign's Internet portal
provides a detailed view of your security devices under VeriSign management.
It includes a variety of reports per device type, and access to an ad
hoc query engine for sophisticated analysis of security events across
multiple platforms and locations. Access to the system is secured with
token-based authentication and SSL encryption.
- 24x7 Management, Monitoring, and Support – VeriSign's expert
staff of security analysts are available to customers around the clock.
Our extensive team of certified security professionals are specially
trained to manage the VPNs of leading industry vendors.
- Lower Total Cost of Ownership – VeriSign's VPN management saves
organizations time and money by reducing staffing, training, and maintenance.
