Adobe Flash Player ActionScript Array.sortOn() Integer Overflow Vulnerability

Remote exploitation of an integer buffer overflow vulnerability in Adobe Systems Inc.'s Flash Player could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the current user. Adobe Flash Player is an application for viewing animations and movies using computer programs, such as a Web browser; in common use, Flash lets users put animation and movies on a website.
The vulnerability occurs when parsing a maliciously formatted sequence of ActionScript code inside an Adobe Flash file. The problem exists in the ActionScript "Array::sortOn()" method. This function uses an array length to calculate memory allocation length without properly validating the length value. This will result in a heap overflow and leads to an exploitable condition.
The following versions of Adobe Flash are vulnerable:
- Adobe Flash Player versions prior to 11.6.602.180 for Windows
- Adobe Flash Player versions prior to 11.6.602.180 for Macintosh
- Adobe Flash Player versions prior to 126.96.36.1995 for Linux
- Flash Player versions prior to 11.6.602.180 for Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8
- Flash Player versions prior to 11.6.602.180 for Chrome users (Windows, Macintosh and Linux)
- Adobe AIR versions prior to 188.8.131.5290
- Adobe Flash Player versions prior to 184.108.40.206 for Android 4.x
- Adobe Flash Player versions prior to 220.127.116.11 for Android 3.x and 2.x for Windows, Macintosh, Android and SDK & Compiler (includes AIR for iOS)
Disable or uninstall Flash Player, or only allow it to run from trusted websites. This can be performed by changing the permissions on the Flash plug-in binary or by browser plug-in configuration options. This workaround may prevent websites relying on Flash technology from working properly.
