Entire
story (PDF; 165KB)
Overview
When BAE Systems,
Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Rolls-Royce decided to found
an online system for sharing aerospace- and defense-industry information
and collaborating on projects, they needed a platform that provided
both security and flexibility. The result is Exostar® ForumPass, a membership-based
network linking manufacturers, suppliers, and customers.
Key Challenges
To create a secure online collaboration platform for sensitive
aerospace and defense industry partners, Exostar needed to protect member
identities and access privileges and ensure that data could not be apprehend
by unauthorized users.

Solution
Exostar turned to
VeriSign, which offers a comprehensive series of intelligent infrastructure
services that not only protect critical resources, but also anticipate
potential threats before they occur. VeriSign has extensive experience
in this area, as it monitors the 13 Internet root servers and maintains
close ties with the White House in the event of suspicious activity.
VeriSign® Managed Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) allows companies to
manage the distribution of digital certificates that authenticate identity
and encrypt data.
Result
- Supported by VeriSign Managed PKI, Exostar implemented
a robust security program that required no start-up costs and had only
modest annual fees.
- Exostar also saved time with faster secure collaboration.
