Overview
Before January of 2002, wireless service providers
had relied on complex minute-based provider plans. MetroPCS aimed to
change that, offering subscribers unlimited minutes at a flat fee, without
long-term contracts or credit checks.
Challenges
Providing a revolutionary solution necessitated
a revolutionary approach. MetroPCS needed an innovative, scalable billing
service that would be adaptive to the growing and often unexpected complexities
of an industry-changing venture.

Solution
MetroPCS turned to VeriSign for a comprehensive
selection of billing services. VeriSign designed an entire billing infrastructure,
integrating point-of-sale functionality and a variety of billing systems.
Results
- In the first 20 months MetroPCS
gained 900,000 customers.
- The billing service scaled flawlessly
to meet this spike in demand. MetroPCS then expanded their partnership
with VeriSign to include a selection of powerful database services.
