2 What are prepaid certificate units?

Prepaid certificate units are flexible pre-purchased token bundles that you redeem when you request an SSL Certificate. There are separate prepaid units for each certificate type: Secure Site Pro with EV (Extended Validation), Secure Site with EV, Secure Site Pro and Secure Site.

For each SSL Certificate you request or renew, you redeem one valid prepaid unit per year of validity per server license. A one-year certificate for a domain hosted on one server requires one prepaid unit. Each additional year or server license requires an additional prepaid unit.

To estimate the number of units you should purchase, identify the certificates you will buy or renew in the next twelve months, including each certificate's validity period and server licenses. Total prepaid units required to request a certificate = [validity period] x [number of server licenses].

Prepaid units are valid for twelve months from the date of issuance, and are not refundable.
